Impact Stories of Our Science Work

 As part of the Ministry of Education Malaysia’s initiative, the British Council collaborated with Sheffield Hallam University to raise the levels of science proficiency and higher order thinking skills (HOTS) among Malaysian lower secondary school students through the HEBAT Sains project.

A total of 30 HEBAT Sains modules with materials were developed and mapped to the current lower secondary science curriculum which became a part of the revised “Standard Based Curriculum for Secondary Schools (KSSM)” implemented nationwide in 2017.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Education Malaysia and the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), School Lab Malaysia was a science communication competition for lower secondary school students held for three consecutive years from 2016 – 2018. 

At least 600 schools, 800 teachers and 1,500 students nationwide participated in School Lab Malaysia while an average of 400 students attended the finals of School Lab Malaysia yearly.
