Future British Council (and other) employers may require that you provide them with a Certificate of Good Conduct from the country where you were last employed.  ELTDP staff who have been in Malaysia for 12 months or longer are eligible to apply for one. The application for a Certificate of Good Conduct must be done online and the process takes approximately 1 to 2 months to complete.

Comprehensive guidelines are attached as a PDF (see downloads below) and are taken from this website: https://www.kln.gov.my/ekonsular_on9/skb_english/main_skb.php

Although the guidelines suggest using Firefox as the web browser, the application can also be done using Chrome. Take care to ensure that you have a jpeg passport-sized photo and a photo of the information page of your passport, both no larger than 200kb to upload to the application.

Kuching and Kota Kinabalu are confirmed as the only places where these certificates can be picked up in East Malaysia – the addresses are on the attached PDF. Although the guidance notes say that these can be posted to you, experience from the last project was that they are no longer posting them out as too many are getting lost. However, it might be good advice to call the relevant office to check this before making the trip. Note that we don’t have the capacity at the office to be able to collect these on behalf of  ELTDP staff, so you’ll need to make your own plans to collect them. Please speak to your project manager to arrange time to do this if needed. Note that you can also collect them from Malaysian embassies overseas.
