Researcher Links gives early career researchers from the UK and Malaysia the opportunity to form international connections through fully funded workshops and travel grants.

The programme runs in around 15 other countries globally, and since the launch in 2013, thousands of researchers have benefited from Researcher Links. New international collaborations, networks and projects have already been formed directly from the early rounds of workshops.

Researcher Links will be running in Malaysia under the Newton-Ungku Omar Fund to enable knowledge exchange, as well as skills and career development – areas that are important for sustainable development.

The Newton-Ungku Omar Fund is an integral component of the Newton Fund. This forms part of the UK’s official development assistance programme, to develop science and innovation partnerships that promote the economic development and social welfare of developing countries.

Researcher Links Workshops

Researcher Links Workshops bring together early-career researchers from the UK and country to allow them to make international connections that can improve the quality of their research and open doors to new international opportunities.

Researcher Links Travel Grants

Researcher Links Travel Grants provide financial support for early-career researchers in country to undertake an international research placement in the UK, to strengthen links for future collaboration, build research capacity and enhance the researcher's career opportunities.
