A recent research visit to Malaysia by Dr. Lynn Sayers-McHattie from the Glasgow School of Art looked at the three traditional woven textiles in Malaysia (Pua Kumbu, Songket and Tenun), and its ecosystems. During her visit, Dr. McHattie visited weaving centres in Kuching, Pekan and Kuala Lumpur. On 26 April 2018, British Council organised a round table discussion attended by Kraftangan Malaysia, Institut Kraf Negara, craft experts, social entrepreneurs, and designers. The round table discussion was an opportunity for participants to get together in an informal setting and to discuss the challenges and opportunities, as well as the future of crafts in Malaysia.
