British Council Malaysia has won the Diversity Award at the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards 2018. The win demonstrates how equality, diversity and inclusion are essential to the British Council, which celebrates 70 years in Malaysia this year.
“We are privileged to have such a strong central Equality, Diversity, Inclusion unit and direction from the top of our organisation for establishing such a high impact approach to this hugely important area at the heart of our work in cultural relations. Sharing it in these forums places us as a leader in the field in a way that is both humbling and challenging, as we commit to doing so in the diverse contexts of over 100 countries around the world,” says Sarah Deverall, Director Malaysia.
The Diversity Award recognises organisations of all sizes across all industries that have shown their commitment to developing a diverse workforce. The award acknowledges those who have programmes, initiatives, resources and/or community involvement programmes in place to advance the promotion of diversity in the workplace, while openly embracing the benefits that a diverse workforce has for everyone.
Held on 12 July 2018, the inaugural awards ceremony recognised the very best of individuals and companies across a range of categories. Over 400 attendees from all industries gathered at a high-profile evening to celebrate the UK and Malaysia business community.
