“This training can inspire the enthusiasm of trainees’ in academic construction and build solid knowledge of Researcher Connect. It also gives good practise about cross-cultural cooperation.” Ms. Kong Jianfeng, Vice Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, Nanjing University
The world of international research is very competitive and fast-moving, so researchers need excellent communication skills in order to have a competitive advantage. Academics and researchers in China are becoming more internationalised but still need to develop their skills further.
The Researcher Connect workshops provide individual researchers and, in turn, partner universities and research institutions, with the skills they need to work in a multicultural environment, enhance their productivity and compete in the international research environment.
Over the last few months over 160 lecturers and researchers have attended eight Researcher Connect workshops, with partners Harbin Institute of Technology, Yunnan Provincial Education Department, Yunnan University, Chongqing University, Sichuan University and Nanjing University.
Feedback from the workshops was extremely positive with 96% of participants stating they would be able to use what they have learnt in their place of work and 94% saying they felt more confident engaging with an international audience after attending the workshop. One participant noted that “I truly enjoyed learning in such a cross-disciplinary, internationalised, agile and friendly environment".
