In order to support more Malaysian students to study in the UK, the British Council, together with 9 UK universities, has launched the GREAT Scholarships 2020 – Malaysia campaign. With 9 taught postgraduate scholarships on offer, the total value of the scholarship scheme up to £100,000. Students can apply for taught postgraduate courses in subjects including law, business, art and design, biosciences, IT and more at 9 institutions across the UK.

How to apply?

Step I: Check your eligibility

  • A Malaysian passport holder
  • Have an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry onto a taught postgraduate programme at a UK univrsity
  • Have an offer from one of the participating UK universities
  • The course that you have applied for is starting in September 2020

Step II: Apply for individual scholarships following the instructions given on individual universities' scholarship webpages

The universities:

University of Bristol

Founded in 1900, the University of Bristol is a Russell Group institution and is consistently listed as a top 20 university in the UK league tables. The University of Bristol is ranked 49th in the QS World University Rankings 2020, cementing its position as a global top 100 university.

Cambridge Commonwealth, European & International Trust at the University of Cambridge

The University of Cambridge is one of the world's oldest and is regularly ranked as one of the best in the world. Its reputation reflects the intellectual achievement and original research of its students and its senior staff. It comprises more than 20,000 students, including 7,500 graduate students (of whom about 50% are from outside the UK).

  • Applicable for all subjects and courses, except MBA and MFin

Durham University

A university with modern values but long traditions, Durham has been forward-looking since its establishment in 1832. A World Top 100 University (QS World Rankings 2020), Durham University's 25 departments offer over 200 undergraduate and 130 taught postgraduate programmes as well as many postgraduate research opportunities.

University of Kent

University of Leeds

The University of Leeds is one of the most prestigious universities in the UK and has been one of the most popular university choices for students from Malaysia for many years. 3rd in the UK for student experience (Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey 2018), the university is renowned for the quality of our learning, teaching and research.

The University of Manchester

Part of the prestigious Russell Group of universities, The University of Manchester enjoys an international reputation for pioneering research and innovation. Some of the world's most important achievements took place at Manchester. Sheffield Hallam University

Staffordshire University

Staffordshire University has over 100 years of education heritage, dating back to 1914. It became North Staffordshire Polytechnic in 1970 and was granted university status in 1992. Successful scholars willl be informed of the outcomes of their applications by individual universities. Scholarship funding will be isssued to successful scholars by individual university after registration.
