Welcome to 2018, and term 1!

Happy New Year!

To returning families – Welcome back! To new faces, thank you very much for choosing the British Council. We look forward to working with you in the future, and hope that everything has got off to a good start.

If we can help in any way – answering questions, providing more information etc. – please contact our Customer Service Team.

Parents’ Welcome Talk

For all parents of PP1-6 level students, there will be a talk during the last 15 minutes of your child’s 3rd lesson (between the 20th and 26th January). We ask that you could kindly be on time to this, as there will be little space in the classrooms, and we have lots of information to give you.

The teacher will be able to introduce themselves to you, give information about the course and studying at the British Council.

Story-writing competition

We all enjoy a good story! So why not encourage your children to write their own stories? Not only writing stories develops language skills (especially vocabulary and grammar), it also helps improve critical thinking, creativity and concentration.

Recognising the benefits of writing stories, our Term 1 Young Leaner Competition is a Story Writing Competition. It is open to all Young Learner students in the British Council Damansara. The closing date for submissions is Sunday 25th February.

Your child was given all the relevant information in class, but feel free to ask us for more details.

Parent workshops

Our Parent workshops address a variety of topics related to children education and development. The space is limited, so we recommend parents arrive on time to get a seat.

We always have a room where the children can wait for you under the supervision of our Teaching Assistants.

The dates of the workshops will be announced soon - look out for further updates!

Osbourne the Owl

Osbourne the Owl is back for Primary Plus!

Do you want to encourage your child to practise their writing? Osbourne the Owl is waiting for their letters. Collect a letter template from near the library, write a letter to Osbourne and he will reply to your child in 2 weeks.

Last year we had a fantastic response to the Osbourne the Owl project and it helped many of our younger students get excited about writing in English. So grab a letter template and get writing today!

Extra writing practice

If you feel that your child can benefit from extra writing practice - we got it covered!

Age-appropriate writing practice exercises can be found at the waiting area in our centre. Take one and once your child has completed it, bring back the questions and answers together and put it in a designated box. Our teachers will mark it and provide feedback.
