For the fifth year, the British Council in Malaysia will be working to present the best of UK talent and dynamic literary minds in pursuit of strengthening and contributing to the development of creative thought and innovation of expression. The festival takes place on 19 & 20 August 2017, at MAP @ Publika, Solaris Dutamas, Kuala Lumpur. As the literary partner of the festival, we will be welcoming two writers from the UK to take part in the Cooler Lumpur Festival.

  1.  Ms Olivia Sudjic, writer of novel “Sympathy”, named one of The Observer’s ‘New Faces of Fiction’ for 2017. At the festival, she will be on two panels on how to write differently and co-conducting a workshop on getting a book published.
  2. Ms Cara Ellison, Scottish author and videogame designer. She was one of The Guardian’s Top Ten Young People In Digital Media 2014. Cara will also be on two panels about gaming and geek culture, as well as a workshop on how to write video game 'barks'.
