Deputy Director Education and Society
The main focus of the work will be devoted to supporting the strategic development, coordination and delivery of contract and programme work in the fields of Higher Education, Schools, Society, and potentially Vocational Skills, in support of the British Council’s overall regional strategy.

Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties:
Strategy – contributing to the development, implementation and review of the country strategy for Education and Society. This will include building partnerships, building business, particularly in the schools, higher education, and society sector, dissemination of information and the generation of income from existing and new sources. A key area will be supporting the development of new delivery channels for impact especially digital engagement and the scaling up of the Education and Society offer through partners. Seeking synergy with other programmes in English and Arts as well as working with wider East Asia and other regions will be a feature of this work.
Coordination – supporting the coordination and delivery of all Education and Society programmes, ensuring the development, delivery and evaluation of relevant products and services as agreed with the Director Education and Society and relevant stakeholders. Priorities will include product and partnership development, securing impact from our work and ensuring coordination with other British Council programmes.
Expertise and Team Leadership – the post holder will be expected to demonstrate sector expertise and understanding in education and also knowledge of the Malaysian education market. They will line manage and support the education and society team developing knowledge sharing and identifying professional development needs. The post holder will be expected to build links with British Council Education and Society colleagues across the region.
Business Development and Digital engagement – a key feature of this role concerns business development, particularly to strengthen and support our existing schools and society offer by developing commercial partnerships to support our Education and Society projects portfolio; and to pursue contract opportunities with the Ministry of Education or related agencies.
