The East Asia region has an employee population of ca. 2300 in 14 markets - Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING AND WHY 

You will lead and manage the HR operations for Malaysia, aligning with the direction from regional HR to provide support of the British Council Malaysia’s overall objectives and business priorities, regional and corporate policies and directions. You need to provide advice to the Malaysia team on HR trends both externally and internally via the British Council regional and global offices; conduct regular meetings with the country HR Business Partners. Your role may also need to manage staff development and employee relations.

WHAT IS INTERESTING ABOUT IT 

You can take pride in the fact that you will support HR Business Partner to track EDI issues, implement systems and practices that enable fair employment and diversity within the workplace. You will also be able to assist in implementation of ongoing Human Resources projects and any other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

You must have diploma in HR Management or equivalent, degree in HR Management or relevant is preferred. It is also essential that you have strong written and oral communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia. You need to possess 6 - 8 years of hands on HR generalist experience, preferably from a shared services HR operations background and good working knowledge of the Employment Act, Industrial Relations Act, Immigration Act, employment. Have relevant working experience in HR Operations role is an added advantage. Knowledge in using HR systems, Payroll administration and visa administration experience would be advantageous.
